Paul Theron Silas

Celebration of Life and Legacy

Please join us as we celebrate the life of our husband, father, coach and friend.

Born on July 12, 1943 to Clara Mae and Leon Silas in Prescott, Arkansas, Paul Theron Silas grew up in Oakland, California.  He later attended Creighton University where he was a basketball and academic All-American.  He is a member of the College Basketball Hall of Fame.  Drafted by the St. Louis Hawks of the NBA in 1964, he met and married Carolyn Eleanor Kemp.  They were married for 56 years and had 2 children Paula (Silas-Guy) and Stephen.  During his 16 year NBA playing career, Paul played for 5 teams, missing the playoffs just once and winning NBA Championships in Boston and Seattle.  He was also President of the National Basketball Players Association.  After his playing career, Paul continued to give to the game he loved as a coach for over 25 years.  He is survived by Carolyn, Paula (John), Stephen (Keryl) and his 3 grandchildren, Jonathan Maxwell, Kyler Elyse and Kaelyn Cherise.
